5 Year Ampuversary for Warrior Nitro

Author: Paula | Filed under: Uncategorized

It’s so hard to believe that 5 years ago today was Nitro’s amputation. I still remember everything leading up to that day…getting up early to have him at the clinic by 7:30 am; worrying the whole day until I’d heard he safely survived surgery. Going home after work, to (hopefully) get one last night of sleep before he came home. Working the next night till 9pm, then leaving work early to get him from the clinic. Scared sh*tless to go get him, soooo afraid of what lie in store for us. Looking down the hallway, dreading that first glimpse of a 3-legged dog….my heart swelling with joy to see my Warrior hopping towards me for all he was worth. Falling to my knees, tears in my eyes, hugging him and  telling him he was beautiful, and that I loved him! Beginning the next unchartered chapter of our lives….terrified we’d made the wrong decision, not having a clue what we were in for. Not knowing what the future held, for him, or for us. Never dreaming that I would find a family here, a family who helped me through the worst time of my life, who I would come to love. Our lives were forever changed that fateful day; the day we knew we had to give him a chance at life. I’m so glad that I was blissfully ignorant of all that we were facing, otherwise I might not have had the courage to fight, and help him fight, for a beautiful and fulfilling life. Thank you all for sharing this ride.

And to my brave Warrior…..”Be good, mama loves you”!

WOW that is a long time and yes it does feel like yesterday for us as well. I remember when you joined us Paula, and how I hoped with all my heart that your warrior would thrive. HE DID and then some!!!!

You are also a warrior spirit and there’s no doubt in my mind that you always had what it took to help him enjoy life. You just didn’t know it then, but now you do.

    Love you lady!

Thank you Paula, thank you Nitro. You writing about seeing your warrior hopping down the hall after surgery reminds of me watching Isa hop down the hall, three years next month. It goes so fast. I too thank all the heavens I had no clue what was in store for us. Amazing how much good can come from so much heartbreak. Thank goodness for our Tripawd family!
    love you!

Warrior Nitro with a Warrior Mom a. Two strong Souls f.

And Nitro is a reason everyone has to try!! We never know who can be the next Nitro and beat this piece of crap disease. Too often the “statistics” scare people away and the dog is never given the “chance” to beat statistics….to be a Nitro!

And we are all so glad you came to the decision to give him a chance. He sure did take that chance and run with it!
I love the sketch, just absolutely love it❤ And yes, because of Warrior Nitro people can BELIEVE their dog can get great extended quality bonus time too!!

You always have such beautiful and unique ways of remembrances fot your boy. And your words, and your heart, are just as beautiful. ❤

How something so good can come out of something so horrible is really beyond me but I thank Nitro for having you as a friend. I never met him in the flesh but know him so well.

Love you my friend. I will pour my wine tonight with Nitro in my thoughts.
    Hugs

    Paula,

This is so beautifully written. I think you were meant to be here. For some reason we all were meant to be here. We were meant to meet and become family.

Thank you for giving Nitro that chance to show you what a Warrior he is. We never know how strong we are or our babies are until we have to go through the journey like this.

Happy Ampuversary day Nitro. I know you are healthy now.

Thinking of you today and sending lots of hugs.
